Welcome

Welcome to NWT Seniors' Society website. The Society provides information and acts as a resource for seniors and elders across the NWT. The Society is the only voluntary agency representing the individual and collective interests of all seniors and elders in the NWT. To become a voting member of the NWT Seniors' Society you must be 50 years of age

The Society is also made up of member organizations representing the interests of seniors throughout the NWT. The Board of Directors consists of representatives from various NWT communities appointed from the community. A Board Member must be over 60 years of age.

The NWT Seniors' Society, in partnership with the Department of Education, Culture and Employment's Literacy Strategy is pleased to announce that funding is once again available to Youth Centres across the NWT. Symposium - Building Networks on the Abuse of Older Adults - November 30 & December 1, 2010

The NWT Seniors' Society is pleased to announce that it is hosting a Symposium: Making Connections - Building Networks to Prevent Elder Abuse at the Explorer Hotel, Yellowknife on November 30 and December 1, 2010. This event is part of the Society's Building Networks Project. Please click here for more information on the Symposium. You can register for the Symposium by clicking here and filling out the Symposium Registration Form online or you can print the form, fill it out and send it to the Society by fax to (867) 920-7601. Please plan to register early. There are a limited number of spaces for this event and we have already received a number of registrations. There are no registration or other fees for attending this Symposium.

New Initiatives

Building Networks on the Abuse of Older Adults

The Society is pleased to announce that it has embarked upon a new initiative to address the issue of the Abuse of Older Adults in the NWT. Click here to learn more about this initiative.

Survey Questionnaire

As part of its Building Networks Project, Phase 1 - Information Gathering, the NWT Seniors' Society is conducting a survey questionnaire of persons 50 years old and older about elder abuse in the NWT. Please click here to fill out the questionnaire and submit on line. Alternatively, you can print the questionnaire, fill it out by hand and fax it to the Society at (867) 920-7601
