The Government of Canada and the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) have expanded their partnership to enhance access to Service Canada’s services through GNWT’s Single Window Service Centres in the communities of Deline, Fort Resolution, and Behchoko.

This followed the success of a 12-month service delivery pilot, implemented in January 2017, during which GNWT employees provided in-person services for Service Canada in the communities of Fort Providence, Fort Liard, and Tuktoyaktuk. The expansion will bring enhanced services to a total of six communities.

Residents living in or near these communities will be able to obtain information about Government of Canada programs and services and receive assistance in applying for the following programs through this partnership: Apprenticeship Grants, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Old Age Security, the Social Insurance Number program, and the Wage Earner Protection Program.

“Through the collaboration withe the Government of Northwest Territories, the Government of Canada is striving to better support remote communities and improve services for Canadians living in the North. This partnership provides individuals in Fort Providence, Fort Liard, Tuktoyaktuk, Deline, Fort Resolution, and Behchoko access to Service Canada programs and services through their local GNWT Single Window Service Centres.”
– The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development

“The Government of the Northwest Territories is committed to providing services to the people of the Northwest Territories. Through this partnership, GNWT Single Window Service Centres will provide residents in these six communities with increased access to Government of Canada programs and services. This is a great partnership, and one I am happy we have created.”
– The Honourable Bob McLeod, Premier of the Northwest Territories, Minister of the Executive and Indigenous Affairs

“I am pleased to announce the expansion of in-person services to the communities of Deline, Fort Resolution, and Behchoko through the Single Window Service Centres. The Single Window Service Centres are an important way to make sure residents of the Northwest Territories’ small communities have access to governmental programs and services in a way that works for them.”
– Michael McLeod, Member of Parliament for Northwest Territories
